There are many who resign to fate and settle down on their couch with a glass of beer to watch their home team Chicago Cubs fight against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They would not even want to take the chance of trying for tickets, knowing there is bound to be none available. When Arizona Diamondbacks played against San Diego Padres, the tickets were easily available across town, and it was fun watching the match from the stands. Cheering along, rooting for the teams, the adrelin kick and fun was jus amazing, and it would be wonderful if that was possible with every match. Luck is what we say when our friend gets tickets to Texas Rangers or Cincinnati Reds, but if they had to sit it out and watch Colorado Rockies vying for the championship with Seattle Mariners. The pleasure of watching anything live is something that one needs to experience at least once in their lifetime. The sheer joy and rush we get every time the batter hits a home run or attacks with vengeance is phenomenal. Getting close to the players, a chance to watch how they bat or pitch as it happens is something no one will want to miss. Watching on TV is also fun, but it is not the same as watching it live. Sitting in the comfort of our home, with friends or family around us adds to enjoyment; however it sure does not replace the thrill of the other option. There are people who try to book tickets months in advance once they get a whiff of where their team is playing. But luck might play against them, and so if they were to get a membership with ticketsamerica.com, they are assured of tickets. Concerts, theatre, sports, and some more, every possible event is covered by our site. Tickets are readily available provided due notice is given, and they will be home delivered. No stress, no tension, and no worries. Swipe your credit card on the net and voila, your tickets are booked. You could choose the dates when you wish to watch the match, or if you want to go for all the Kansas City Royals matches only. Some corporates might want to do bulk booking, in which case they would get a discount on the tickets booked. It is like online shopping, choose the teams, the dates, tickets and add to cart. There are many National Football League players who play the position of running back quite well, but in my opinion, the best running back there is in the NFL is Jim Brown. Jim Brown played for the Cleveland Browns from 1957 to 1965. He was an extremely powerful runner, and he also had great speed and agility, which enabled him to break away from the pack effortlessly, while being tackled. Due to his great accomplishments in the NFL, in 1971 Jim Brown was inducted into the pro football hall of fame. Despite the fact that I feel Jim Brown is the best running back so far, there is an emerging running back who may just give him a run for the title of the best of all time. This great new NFL running back is L.T, better known as LaDainian Tomlinson, who currently plays for the San Diego Chargers. He is proving to be a promising young, new player, yet before he actually gets to be named the best of all time, he will have to surpass players like Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith. These two players were two of the best running backs that have ever played in pro football. Walter was a runner who ran with a great deal of finesse, and the speed of a cheetah. When he broke loose from the pack, he was gone, and no other player could ever catch him. Emmitt Smith was more of a powerful runner, and he had speed as well. L.T. is proving to everyone that he, too, possesses these talents. Ladainian Tomlinson is well on his way, but he still has a long way to go to play like Jim Brown, Emmitt Smith, or even Walter Payton. It takes lots of training and experience to be a running back, much less, the greatest of all time. Running backs must train on a regular basis to keep their bodies in shape, on and off season. If they lay around, drinking beer and loading up on junk food while football season is over, then there is no way that they would be able to get back into shape in time for the season to begin. These specialized players must be very dedicated and disciplined, taking the time to eat the proper foods, get a sufficient amount of rest, as well as workout at least once a day. One of the great things about wine on a date is that one bottle is a defined amount, normally about five glasses. If shared equally it is unlikely that you will fall off your chair drunk after half a bottle of wine! However, there are some other social sins that can be committed whilst choosing wine on a date. Getting Started First, you need to decide whether you want white, red, rosé or sparkling wine. This is perhaps the most important decision. As a general rule, red wine is more of an acquired taste and it can be harder to select a good red. Therefore, when you do not know your companion’s tastes it may be wise to steer clear of the red wine section. Sparkling wine can make you appear a little pretentious or if you go for a cheaper version, a tightwad; so this is usually best avoided. If you are not sure whether your companion likes wine at all, rosé wine is often a safe option as it often lacks the sharpness that people commonly dislike in wines. How Much to Spend? Remember more money doesn’t always mean more quality. If you are very new to wine, go for a house white. A house white is unlikely to be extremely imaginative or unusual, but is almost always perfectly drinkable. For this reason it is a safe, middle of the road option. If you want to impress, look for something other than the house white. Keep away from extremes until you know your companion a little better, so don’t go for bone dry whites. Instead, opt for a fruity dry wine that appeals to those who like both dry and medium whites. Whilst neutral wines may seem like a bit of a cop-out, bear in mind that you simply want a drinkable wine that does not offend. If you are really not sure what to choose, why not offer your companion a choice of glasses as an aperitif while you have a beer or spirit. This way you can judge your companion’s taste. Even if they select a spirit, you can still get a measure of whether they prefer sweet or dry wines. Of course, you could always give your companion the choice… Source: http://allofbeer.com/2017/03/25/choosing-wine-on-a-first-date/ from https://allofbeer.wordpress.com/2017/03/25/choosing-wine-on-a-first-date/ Grunion Runs – Fishing With Your Hands In San Diego
El Grunionino Throughout the year, the fish known as the grunion run in San Diego and much of California. This little silver fish reproduces by “running” up the beach during the high tide in the middle of the night. Literally thousands of the fish simply come storming up the beach with the waves to lay their eggs in the wet sand. It kind of looks like the beginning of a triathalon except the participants are going the wrong way and are pregnant. The fish picked up their name from Spanish settlers because of, well, the grunting noise the make when doing their thing. It is a bit saucy now that I think about it. Anyway, the grunion averages five inches in length and has a silvery hue that shows in the moonlight. With thousands in the water, it looks like the a really fat person wearing way to many sequins while dancing to disco music. You’re Inner Barbarian “Fishing” for grunion requires you to get in touch with your inner barbarian. Under California law, you are not allowed to use bait, hooks, poles, nets or anything. Instead, you must physically catch the grunion with your hands. This, of course, results in you and others running around the beach like a crab while trying to snatch the grunions. They are exceedingly quick and slippery. You’ll be huffing and puffing before you know it. Grunion are an extremely plentiful fish, but there are still rules to follow. As mentioned above, you have to go mano-a-fisho. No poles, nets or other items can be used. Second, you have to get a fishing license from the California Department of Fish and Game. Third, you can only go grunion hunting from May to September, the legal season in the area. If you think getting in touch with your inner fishing barbarian sounds like a good time, here is the scoop on good spots. In San Diego, you should hit the beaches in Del Mar, La Jolla, Mission Beach or in front of the Hotel Del Coronado. These are all high end areas, which means the grunion must have excellent taste. Running around the beach like a madman can be tiring. Bringing along fluids [okay, beer] is highly recommended. Shrimp Here is a guideline to help you choose which variety to buy: Tiger Shrimp – Mild flavor, with a sweet taste and a crunchy texture. White Shrimp – Mild flavor, with a slightly salty, shrimpy taste and firm texture. Great for salads and stir-fry. Pink Shrimp – Mild to medium flavor, with a medium texture. Perfect for shrimp cocktail. Brown Shrimp – Full, robust flavor, with medium texture. Best when used for full-flavor dishes like gumbo or for frying. Deep-Fry Shrimp – preheat (canola, vegetable or peanut) oil to 375 degrees F. Carefully place a small amount of breaded or battered shrimp in cooker. Fry shrimp 2 to 3 minutes, depending on size of shrimp, until golden brown outside and opaque in the center. Stir-Fry or Saute Shrimp – preheat saute pan over medium-high heat. Add butter, margarine, olive oil or flavored cooking oil. Any combination may also be used. Carefully place shrimp in pan. Stir-fry large shrimp for 3 to 4 minutes; medium 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 minutes and small/bay 2 to 2-1/2 minutes. Grill or Broil Shrimp – Skewer peeled shrimp in a "horseshoe" fashion. That is, thread the shrimp onto the skewer at its large base, then at its tail so it curves around in a U-shape. Marinate, if desired. Place 4 inches above a preheated gas grill or charcoal grill at 375 degrees. To broil, place shrimp 4 inches under a heat source (leave oven slightly open when using an electric range). Grill or broil extra jumbo shrimp for 6 minutes, jumbo for 5 minutes, extra large for 4 minutes and large for 3 minutes. Baste with oil or marinade. Turn once halfway during the cooking process. Boiled Shrimp – To get the best out of boiled shrimp, add a can of beer to the boiling water. Refrigerate on ice after boiling. Dip cooled shrimp in a tantalizing shrimp sauce made of ketchup and horseradish. How sharp you like it depends on amount of horseradish you add. Swaggie’s Lamb Shanks 6 lamb shanks Arrange the shanks in a large, shallow baking dish. Scatter the vegetables, herbs, garlic, ginger root and peppercorns over the top. Pour in the oil and the wine. Turn the shanks over in the marinade to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Transfer the shanks to a cast iron Dutch oven with a lid and pour the marinade evenly over the top. Cover and bake in the center of the oven until fork tender, about 2 hours. During cooking, turn the shanks over from time to time. Remove from the oven and let cool, then refrigerate overnight in the marinade. Drain the shanks over a pot, catching the marinade. Place the marinade over medium-high heat and cook until reduced to a good coating consistency. Arrange the shanks on a griller (broiler) tray and slip under the broiler. Broil until glazed and crisp, about 5 minutes, then turn and grill until glazed and crisp on the second side and heated through, 2 to 3 minutes longer. Serve the shanks at once with the reduced sauce spooned around them. Serves 6. This is the ‘kings’ disease’ as it affects the affluent. It is a type of arthritis that affects the toe, knee and other joints. Your kidneys lose their ability to flush out the excess amounts of uric acid, partially. This uric acid crystallizes and lodges in the joints, thus causing joint pain. This joint gets hot, swollen and tender. This pain usually starts in the middle of the night and can last for hours and days at a stretch. But it can vanish quite quickly. The following are some of the simple home remedies that you can take to prevent the gout infection: • Lose weight slowly: People suffering from gout are usually overweight with their body weight about 10 to 15 percent overweight. More your girth, higher your uric acid level. The higher incidence of the uric acid leads to frequent and intense gout attacks. But take care that you should lose weight slowly as crash diet leads to increase in uric acid levels. • Control the blood pressure: Gout patients who also suffer from hypertension need to be extra careful. This is because the blood pressure medications raise the levels of uric acid. Hence it is advisable to control the blood pressure naturally by lowering the intake of the sodium, exercising regularly, reducing the excess weight and eliminating stress. • Skip liver: Certain foods contain purine that raise uric acid levels. Though it is found in most foods, it is advisable to skip certain foods like red meat especially organ meats, liver, certain types of fish and some green leafy vegetables like spinach. • Stop the drink: If you are suffering from gout, avoid alcohol. This is because alcohol stimulates the production of uric acid. Beer is the main culprit as it has higher purine content than the other wines or spirits. • Go heavy on water: Drinking lots of water will help kidneys flush out the excess uric acid. Dehydration is also known to trigger gout attack. You can increase the urinary output by drinking at least five glasses of water a day. • Improve your sex life: It has been found that if you are a man, having frequent sexual activity reduces the levels of uric acid. • Take care of your feet: If you increase your big toe, you run the risk of gout attack. Wear shoes around the house and protect the feet from the daily accidents. The nightlife in Madrid is the real reason the city is so popular with young people. During the day the city can be a little dry- with all the museums, parks, etc. Most nightlife gets going really late compared to that in the States. Here are a couple recommendations: Go to a Flamenco dinner show A Flamenco dinner show is a great cultural nighttime option. If you are traveling to the South of Spain, particularly Granada or Seville, it’s best to find a Flamenco show in these cities. It will undoubtedly be cheaper and more authentic. However, Flamenco shows in Madrid are still a good option if you won’t be traveling outside of the capital. Try a few tapas bars A tapas crawl can be fun if you find the right places. Avoid some of the tourist traps in the Sol area, which are overpriced. Ask your hotel for suggestions. Vinoteca, in Plaza Santa Ana, is a one good option. Check out some of Madrid’s big night clubs Madrid’s night clubs are a fun experience. None card, and as long as you look about 18, you won’t have any problems getting in. Try Kapitol, across from metro stop Atocha, and Palacio Real (near Sol). Kapitol claims to be the biggest club in Europe. Both charge a cover of 12-15 euros and get busy at around 2 AM. Hit the bars: Madrid is full of good bars. Some of the best bars for young people are in the Moncloa, Tribunal, Bilbao, and Malasana neighborhoods. Here are a couple of bars that are normally flooded with American and Spanish college students, as well as others: o El Chapandaz, “The cave bar” – (Calle Fernando El Catolico 77, Moncloa) Cool looking bar decorated like a cave. Some drinks are poured from a tap in the form of a rock formation hanging down from the ceiling. Good Thurs. through Sat. o Casa de la Cerveza (Metro Bilbao) – This bar is normally packed on off nights because of its all-you-can-drink for 10 euro deal (from 11-1:30 I believe). You can try Sangria, beer, or red wine and coke (called calimocho- popular with the young Spanish crowd). Note: Avoid the bars that promote around the Sol area. Some of the Irish bars are OK, as are many of the bars located in underground caves.
